Man confesses that he killed architect in an attempted robbery in SP

The São Paulo Civil Police confirmed that Hugo dos Santos Araújo, 20, confessed in a statement that it was the Author of the shots that killed architect Jefferson Dias Aguiarin the west of São Paulo. Araújo surrendered to the police on Friday morning.

At a press conference at the headquarters of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), the Civil Police detailed the case, which had both perpetrators identified in about 16 hours. The second suspect, 20 -year -old Kawã Felipe Celestino, named the motorcycle rider, is still a fugitive. He was responsible for taking Hugo from the crime scene after the execution.

In testimony to the police, Araújo claimed to have confused Jefferson with a police officer as he watched him landing from the car. Also according to the statement, Araújo stated that he and Kawã Celestino know themselves from the neighborhood, studied together and maintained a friendship, but would not have kept in touch after the crime. He also reported that he did not know the victim.

Police investigate the participation of the pair in other thefts in the region. Hugo Araújo has an antecedent for theft, while Kawã had no background. Architect Jefferson Dias Aguiar was killed after being hit by three shots in Butantã, on the afternoon of last Tuesday (1st).
