The heating season will reduce heating bills in the new season. 90 % of the radiators from this radiator function Poles cannot use it, and you can save
  • Effective use of radiators is the key to comfortable heat and lower heating bills.
  • The numbers on the radiator thermostat correspond to specific temperatures, which allows you to precisely control the heat in the room.
  • Ventilation of the apartment briefly and intensively, with crazy radiators, and avoiding setting the thermostat to “5” are simple ways to save.

How to use the radiator during the heating season to pay less?

The heating season is a time when radiators become our allies in the fight against the cold. However, to enjoy a comfortable even heat throughout the apartment and at the same time not overpay for heating bills, it is worth knowing a few rules of effective use of them. The truth is that everyone uses heating, but many Poles do not realize that they will allow to rationally insulate the room. Well, the radiators available on the Polish market are equipped with thermostats with a scale of 0 to 5. It is thanks to this thermostat that you can effectively and quickly heat the apartment to the temperature we care about – without overheating and taking too much energy for heating.

What do numbers on the radiator knob mean? This is how the thermostat works

Each of the numbers or symbols appearing on the radiator knob has an assigned temperature range to which the room is heated. The obtained heat result, of course, controls the above -mentioned thermostat.

Here’s what exactly the numbers on the radiator knob mean:

  • Snowflake or digit 0 – the radiator maintains a temperature of 6-8 degrees Celsius.
  • The radiator for 1 – in the room you will get a temperature of 12-13 degrees Celsius.
  • Heater for 2 – the temperature at this level is about 15 degrees Celsius.
  • Heater for 3 – the room temperature will be 18-20 degrees Celsius.
  • The radiator for 4 – there will be 22-24 degrees of Celsius in the room.
  • Heater for 5 – the room temperature will be up to 28 degrees Celsius.

How to save on heating bills? Important rules for using radiators

In the heating season, several important rules should be followed, thanks to which it will be warm at home and low heating bills. First of all, the apartment is often, but for a short time. Why is it so important? In this way, the apartment will not lose the heat secreted by the radiator. The second important issue is to turn off the radiators during the weathering of the apartment. Just set the knob to “0”. Then the thermostat will not start consuming more energy to adjust the room temperature. It is also worth knowing that setting the radiator at 5 does not mean that the room will heat up faster. In fact, in the apartment you will have dry, warm air and a higher electricity bill.

How to vent the radiator?

To easily prepare for it in a simple way. This is not a complicated activity but you will need a flat screwdriver (screwdriver) or a special radiator venting key. A bowl, a glass or any water container will also be useful. Before we start working, you also need to turn off the valve. It is also worth increasing the pressure in the installation (up to 1.4 ATM), thanks to which the water will displace the air from the radiator. When the radiator is properly prepared, we start venting the radiator. At the beginning under the vent (the knob located in the upper or lower part) we place the water container to which the liquid from the installation will flow. Then, with the help of a screwdriver or key, gently unscrew the vent screw. Air and water will start to get out of the radiator. When the pressure falls and the liquid flows out with a calm stream, you can turn off the radiator vent screw. After making sure that nothing is leaking from it, we unscrew the valve again so that the water can swim to the radiator (we gradually supplement the water until it is obtained from 0.9 to 1.2 ATM). Set the thermostat knob to the maximum position and wait a few minutes. If the cause of the cold radiator was its propeller, the radiator will quickly become warm.

Cleaning the radiator. How to do it correctly?

And this is a very important activity that is worth performing before the start of the heating season, because it affects the proper functioning of radiators in our home. It is best to start cleaning by removing dirt with a vacuum cleaner. It is worth cleaning all available radiator places from superficial dust. Then go to cleaning the radiator inside. Just mix the washing powder with hot water. Place the bowl under the radiator, and then pour the mixture prepared earlier. The interior of the radiator will be thoroughly cleaned. Finally, remember to wipe the outer part of the radiator with a cloth moistened with water with the addition of dishwashing liquid. In addition to this easy trick, it is to use compressed air and a vacuum cleaner, and then the clash of blown dust with a damp cloth.
