The heating season has started and the radiator is cold? You will solve the problem so quickly

In the apartments that are connected to the heating network, radiators are launched when The daily temperature is lower than 10 degrees Celsius for the next three days. The heating season therefore usually begins at the turn of September and October.

The situation is slightly different in homes that have their own heat source, i.e. coal, gas stove or a heat pump. Then the radiators turn on when the temperature drops below 19-20 degrees Celsius. The humidity and its movement in the room are also important.

In both cases, there may be a situation in which the radiators remain cold – Let’s not panic – this is a common problem that can be solved quickly. It will be necessary to vent the radiators. Check when it is necessary and how to do it.

It is easy to recognize ahead. This is one whose upper part is cold and the lower heat. We also hear various sounds coming out of its interior, i.e. bubbling, jummy or knocking. If we set the thermostat to a high temperature, and the radiator still does not heat up, then it must be bleed.

Why is it so important? If the radiator remains cold and we do not heat up the room, maybe it deteriorate the quality of sleep, increase the risk of respiratory tract infection, and also intensify asthma symptoms.

In addition, there will be more energy consumption – The boiler or heat pump will start working more intensively to reach a given temperature, which will do nothing. Therefore, we can expect higher heating bills and faster use of the installation.

The ventilation of radiators involves removing the air blocking the correct heating water circulation. Each type of radiator is a bit different. So how do you do it?

At the beginning we turn off the thermostatic valve. Then we put a special key or screwdriver in the vent – Located at the top of the radiator, on the side. We unscrew it by half a turn. We should then hear hissing, characteristic of escaping air. Finally, the water stream must flow. Then we turn off the valve.

There is a cork in these radiators instead of a ventwhich is also on top or on the side. We unscrew it with a special key and continue to follow the same as with panel radiators. Here, however, it may happen that the cork will be heavily corroded. Then there is a high probability of a thread crack or leakage. In this situation, it is better to call a plumber.

Always venting with heating turned off – in the bathroom it is easy to get moisture and burn, because the water can have up to 70 ° C. It is worth putting on protective gloves. In modern ladders, automatic vents are often installed, which operate automatically and do not require our interference. After venting, we check tightness. If you notice moisture around the valve, it’s better not to delay with action.
