6×1 PEC ignores sector needs, says rapporteur – 12/11/2025 – Panel

Rapporteur in (proposed amendment to the Constitution) that ends the , deputy Luiz Gastão (PSD-CE) assesses that the does not look at the needs of economic activities.

The subcommittee in the Chamber analyzed the deputy’s PEC (PSOL-SP), which provides for no salary reduction. Gastão, in his opinion, limited the weekly working hours to 40 hours, with staggered reductions, and work on Saturdays and Sundays limited to 6 hours per day.

This Wednesday (10), the CCJ (Commission for the Constitution of Justice), reported by fellow PT member Rogério Carvalho (SE), which foresees a reduction from 44 to 36 hours per week and limits work to five days a week, with two days of paid rest – preferably on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Regarding the Paim project, I think they are taking a view that is very much in defense of workers wanting to have more time off, but without looking at the needs, not of the company, but of the economic activities of the labor market”, he states.

Gastão assesses that the PEC in the Senate shows an immediate vision of politics and of “getting along with the worker to win the worker’s vote”. “Is it?” he asks. “There could be unemployment, then what happens? You can close the small company that is competitive. You take a company that is small, it will have an increase in costs”, he continues.

The deputy stated that he was concerned about reducing working hours, while preserving the competitiveness of micro and small companies.
