The time for sowing pansies is approaching. Don't miss out if you want them to bloom in spring

You don’t have to wait for the first warm days to start the gardening season. February is the perfect time to sow plants that need a little more time to develop. At home, they will germinate and gain strength before being transplanted into the ground. Thanks to this, they will quickly reward you with a riot of colors.

In February, it is worth starting sowing some popular plants that are appreciated by many people. We are talking about pansies, delighting with their colorful, charming flowers. The coming weeks are the perfect time to sow seeds in home pots. Thanks to this, the plants will germinate in the warmth and will be suitable for transplanting into the ground in March or early April, so they will bloom this season.

Pansies should be sown in permeable and fertile soil that does not retain moisture and is slightly acidic with a pH of 5.5-7. It is also very important to ensure drainage in the container so as not to expose the roots to rotting. In addition, you should loosen the substrate with a rake or a spoon and prepare small holes in it.

We place the seeds in them and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Spray the whole thing carefully with water so as not to wash away the seeds. Place the prepared pots with pansies in a warm place so that they grow at a temperature of 15-20 degrees Celsius.

Two weeks later, we can start fertilizing the pansies for the first time. It is worth choosing a home method in which we use 10 g of fresh yeast and pour 1 liter of water over it.. We leave our mixture aside for an hour and after that time we water the planted plants with it.

Yeast will have a positive effect on the growth process of pansies, as well they will improve the soil structure and support root growth. It is worth using this fertilizer systematically until we transplant the pansies into the ground.

Of course, we must remember that after emergence, pansies require regular but moderate care. The most important thing is systematic watering. This should be done so that it is slightly damp, but not wet. Additionally, the plants should be placed in a bright place, but without direct sunlight, which may scorch the young leaves.

When the seedlings grow up, we can gently quilt them to give them more space to develop. Removing weaker plants and airing the room will strengthen the seedlings and prepare them for hardening off before taking them outside.
