Musician Matej Gábriš, better known by the nickname Gabryell from the Slovak rap duo Nerieš, really scared his followers on the social network. He hasn’t spoken to his fans in a while and now he revealed the reason. The musician suffered from serious health problems.
It all started after one of the concerts. “This year is off to a pretty sharp start so far. After playing the concert in Prešov, the next day something started bothering me in my stomach, and on Sunday I already had a fever of 40, which lasted for 3 days and could not be brought down… In the end, I managed to get some rest, but the pain didn’t go away,” he described the first symptoms.
The pain was so severe that he went to the emergency room at the hospital. “Finally, on January 29, I was hospitalized… I suffered there for 7 days and they couldn’t tell me what was wrong with me, and they did a CT scan, 3 x sonos, an ultrasound of the heart, etc… Every night I fought with extreme pain and sometimes I thought that I would never get out of there on my own…” he admitted what thoughts he had because of the excruciating pain.
However, doctors discovered the cause. “Today (February 5, editor’s note) I was finally released, somehow I got a break thanks to the staff and they found out that I had stomach inflammation and on top of that I caught some other infection that caused me to get sick,” revealed the cause of health problems.
The musician is thinking about the next path in his career. “Those concerts are really killing me… I’ll say it here too, that I’m giving it one more chance, but if it happens again, I’ll have to quit the shows…. Be healthy, take care,” he added bitter words at the end. Gabryell published photos from the hospital, which you can find in the gallery, as well as a video, which you can watch above the article.
Gastritis, professionally called gastritis, is an inflammation of the stomach lining. It means that the inner lining of the stomach is irritated or damaged, and therefore the stomach reacts with pain or nausea. It can arise suddenly (acute gastritis) or develop over a longer period (chronic gastritis), writes the portal.
Typical symptoms of gastritis are pain or burning in the upper abdomen, feeling bloated, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, heartburn, or feeling full even after a small meal. Sometimes belching or unpleasant acidity in the mouth may also appear. In more serious cases, gastritis can occur cause bleeding, which may be manifested by dark stools or vomiting of blood.
It is most often caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, which damages the gastric mucosa. Other causes are, for example, frequent use of painkillers, alcohol, smoking, stress, irregular eating, overeating, too fatty or spicy foods or reflux. Sometimes it can also arise as an autoimmune disease, when the body attacks its own stomach lining.
Treatment depends on the cause. Medications that reduce the production of stomach acid, or medications to protect the gastric mucosa, are often used. If the bacterium Helicobacter pylori is the cause, it is treated with a combination of antibiotics and acid-reducing drugs. Lifestyle modification is also very important, that is, avoid alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, spicy foods and eat lighter, regularly and in smaller portions.
Hospitalization for gastritis is usually not necessary, most people are treated at home with medication and diet. You go to the hospital especially when the condition is more serious, for example, if a person vomits constantly and cannot even retain water (risk of dehydration), it appears blood in vomit or the vomit looks like “coffee grounds”, the stool is black and resinous (sign of bleeding in the digestive tract), stomach pain is extreme and unrelenting, is suspected of stomach ulcerperforation or other acute problem, the patient is very weak, has low pressure or collapse.
