OECD: SUS assessment grows and surpasses Latin America – 02/10/2026 – Panel

Brazilians’ satisfaction with the SUS (Unified Health System) grew 9 percentage points between 2022 and 2025, going from 34% to 45%, according to a survey carried out by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ().

The survey, entitled Confidence in Public Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, shows that the Brazilian index is above the Latin American average, which was 40% in 2025.

According to the study, Brazilians’ perception of access to and quality of public services rose 18 percentage points in the period, jumping from 24% to 42%, 10 percentage points above the Latin American average (32%).

The survey evaluated aspects such as integrity, response, reliability, openness and equity, with a sample of 2,000 people across the country.

“The survey has proven to be a successful initiative as the most comprehensive global survey of the complex relationship between trust and democratic public governance,” says OECD Director of Public Governance, Elsa Pilichowski. According to her, the perception of trust is a tool for countries to implement effective public policies.

It has already been stated that the growth in positive evaluation reflects the increase in the population’s access to public health services.

He cited actions such as the Lula government’s flagship in the area, and the 43.7 million exams and consultations carried out in the SUS in 2025, which represents an increase of 26% compared to 2022.
