Actor James Van Der Beek died this Wednesday morning, 11, aged 48. The information was released by his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, in a post on Instagram. According to Kimberly, Van Der Beek “died peacefully” and faced his final days with “courage, faith and serenity”.
“There is much to share about your desires, your love for humanity and the importance of time. Those days will come. For now, we ask for privacy as we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend,” the film producer wrote. In addition to his wife, James leaves six children – Olivia, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, Joshua and Jeremiah.
The actor, known mainly for his work on the series Dawson’s Creek, was treating stage 3 colorectal cancer. This is the same disease that killed singer Preta Gil last year. The artist discovered cancer after a colonoscopy in August 2023. The diagnosis, however, only became public in November 2024.
