Focus maintains GDP growth forecast of 1.80% in 2026

Considering only the 35 projections updated in the last five business days, which are more sensitive to news, the estimate rose from 1.79% to 1.90%

Focus’s intermediate estimate for Brazilian economic growth in 2027 remained stable at 1.80%

The median of financial market forecasts in the Focus report of the Central Bank for the growth of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2026 remained at 1.80%for the 10th consecutive week.

Considering only the 35 projections updated in the last five business days, more sensitive to news, estimate rose from 1.79% to 1.90%.

The Central Bank increased its growth estimate for the Brazilian economy this year, from 2.0% to 2.3%, in the Monetary Policy Report (RPM) for the fourth quarter.

According to the municipality, the increase reflected the revision in the historical series of the Quarterly National Accounts (CNT)which particularly affected agricultural growth in the first half of the year, and a third quarter result slightly above expectations.

Focus’s intermediate estimate for Brazilian economic growth in 2027 remained stable at 1.80%, for the 7th consecutive reading. Considering only the 29 projections updated in the last five business days, the estimate also remained at 1.80%.

The medians for GDP growth in 2028 and 2029 remained at 2.00%, for the 101st and 48th week in a row, respectively.
