“I was informed with the deepest concern of the news regarding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the allegations of misconduct in public office. What follows now is the full, fair and proper process whereby the matter will be properly investigated and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have stated in the past, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation.
I want to make it absolutely clear: the law must take its course.
As the proceedings are ongoing, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the matter. In the meantime, my family and I will continue our duty and service to all of you.”
The arrest of Prince Andrew
Earlier today, the British police arrested the former Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles, causing intense movement in the media of Great Britain.
As the Daily Telegraph reported, the authorities arrived on Thursday at the home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, in the east of England. The arrival of officers was recorded at the Sandringham estate, where six unmarked police cars and around eight plainclothes officers were seen.
Andrew, who turns 66 today on his birthday, is being held under investigation for possible abuse of public office, while the case continues to shock the royal family.
The police announcement
“As part of the investigation, we have today (19/2) arrested a man, aged in his 60s, from Norfolk, on suspicion of breach of public duty, while searches are being carried out at homes in Berkshire and Norfolk.
The man currently remains in police custody.
The name of the arrested person will not be released, in line with national guidelines. Please also note that the case is active, so care is required in any publication to avoid breaching the Courts Act.’
