President defends general guideline with regulations adapted to the characteristics of each category at the end of the 6 X 1 scale
The president (PT) said that the end of the 6 X 1 scale needs to propose specific rules for some professional categories. The declaration was made this Tuesday (March 3, 2026), during the solemn opening session of the 2nd National Labor Conference.
According to Lula, different professional categories have different needs in relation to the organization of the working day. This requires different treatment in the development of labor standards. The president indicated that it is possible to establish a general guideline on working hours and regulate the standard according to the specific characteristics of each sector.
“What is the ideal journey? For many categories, there are different journeys. For many categories. And we will find what is for each one. You can even see a general rule, but when it comes to regulating this general rule, you will have to focus on the specifics depending on the reality of each category”said President Lula.
Lula criticized the reform proposed by Argentine president Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza, right), in the country, which extends the working day to up to 12 hours, reduces compensation, allows payments for goods or services and limits the right to strike, among other points.
“What we cannot imagine is how the 12-hour working day was approved in Argentina now”he stated.
The PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) at the end of the 6 X 1 scale, which in Congress is that of the Lula government. The government wants to approve it in the 1st half of 2026.
