How to make a marble pattern on eggs? Tea is needed

Dyeing eggs is a beautiful Easter tradition. The simplest way is of course ready-made food dyeswhich allow you to obtain intense color in just a few minutes. However, many people like to use it natural methods: shells onions give the shells a warm brown-golden color, turmeric dyes them yellow, beetroot juice gives pink and red shades, a red cabbage allows you to obtain bluish colors.

They are also an interesting idea eggs marinated in tea. First, the shell of a boiled egg is cracked and then immersed in an aromatic brew. This creates a characteristic marble pattern on the surface. Such eggs also have a subtle taste and aroma because they are colored not only with tea, but also with the addition of soy sauce, cinnamon, anise and cloves.

Ingredients:

  • 5 eggs,
  • 3 tablespoons of black tea,
  • a spoon of green tea,
  • liter of water,
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce,
  • cinnamon stick,
  • 3 star anise,
  • 3 cloves.

How to do it:

1. Hard-boil the eggs (about 9-10 minutes after the water boils). Then cool them in cold water.

2. Gently crack each egg with a spoon so that the shell is cracked over the entire surface, but do not remove it. It should stay on the egg. It is thanks to these cracks that a decorative pattern will be created.

3. Boil a liter of water in a pot. Add black and green tea, cover and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes to make the infusion intense.

4. Add soy sauce, cinnamon stick, anise and cloves to the broth. Add the broken eggs (in their shells) and cook over very low heat for 2-3 hours. The stock should bubble gently like broth.

5. After this time, remove the pot from the heat and leave the eggs to cool completely in the broth. Preferably for a few hours or even overnight for a more intense flavor.

6. Peel the eggs only before serving. They should have a characteristic marble pattern and a delicate, oriental aroma.
