Average diesel price rises 6.76% in one week and reaches R$7.26 with war in Iran

Survey was released by the ANP; increases occur amid the volatility of the international market with the conflicts in the Middle East and after the Petrobras readjustment, valid since March 14th

A survey released by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) this Friday (20), showed that the weekly price of regular diesel reached R$7.26an increase of R$0.46/L compared to the previous week when the value was R$6.80 – an increase of 6.76%.

S10 diesel was valued at R$ 7.35, regular gasoline had an increase of 2.94%, going from R$ 6.46 to R$ 6.65, with added gasoline being priced at R$ 6.84.

The increases take place amid the volatility of the international market with conflicts in the Middle East and after the adjustment of Petrobrasvalid since March 14th, in addition to the government’s decision to eliminate PIS and Cofins on imported diesel.

Earlier, the TruckPad consultancy had already carried out a survey on the price of diesel and gasoline and showed that the war in the Middle East increased the price of fuel by almost 1% per day in Brazil. In just 30 days, the price of diesel jumped from an average of R$5.74 (on February 27th) to R$7.22 (on March 18th)according to a survey by the consultancy TruckPad. The accumulated increase reaches almost 11%, an average of 1% increase per day.

This Friday (20), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), spoke about the oil crisis created after the start of the conflict in the Middle Eastand complained about the sale of BR Distribuidora, which began in 2019, on the grounds that it was not profitable.

“If BR had it in our hands, we would have the guarantee that the price that Petrobras increases or does not increase would reach the pump for the consumer”, he said. According to Lula, there should have been a strike so that the privatization of BR Distribuidora would not be carried out.
