The senator (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, kicked off his pre-campaign in the Northeast this Saturday (21) defending the granting of house arrest for his father, (), and reinforcing criticism of the government ().

In a political event in Natal (RN), Flávio said he believes that the house arrest requested by his father’s defense will be granted. Bolsonaro has been hospitalized since the 13th in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, where he is being treated for bilateral bacterial pneumonia.

“Exams prove the worsening of his health and now, at 71 years of age and with comorbidities already publicly known, humanitarian home care will be authorized,” said the senator in a press interview.

In his speech to supporters, Flávio criticized the increase in fuel prices: “Have you seen the price of gasoline? Diesel reaching R$ 10?”, he asked.

Without making references to , the senator stated that Lula is an “incompetent who cannot face a crisis”.

He then cited tax reduction measures adopted by Bolsonaro in 2022, when fuel prices increased following the impacts of the invasion of Ukraine. Last week, Lula adopted one by zeroing PIS and Cofins for diesel oil.

Targeting younger voters and entrepreneurs, the senator promised to reduce taxes and make life easier for those who want to open their own business. He also placed public security at the center of his speech, promising to toughen the treatment of criminal organizations and female aggressors.

The event in Rio Grande do Norte had a green and yellow cake, as well as a happy birthday chorus for the former president, who turned 71 this Saturday.
