Filipe Barros takes over state directorate; Former leader Fernando Giacobo left the party after Flávio announced support for Moro for the state government
The federal deputy (PL-PR) was chosen this Tuesday (24.mar.2026) as the new president of the Liberal Party directory in Paraná in place of (without party-PR). The decision was taken by the party’s national president, Valdemar Costa Neto.
“I thank my friend and deputy Fernando Giacobo for the consistent work he has done as president of the PL over the years. I am sure that we will continue this beautiful legacy, leading the Liberal Party with the responsibility that Paraná and Brazil demand”said Filipe Barros in a note sent by the press office.
The change took place with Giacobo leaving the PL also this Tuesday (24th March). The deputy left the party (PL) after the acronym the senator (PL-PR) to the State government.
Giacobo is a historical ally of the current governor of the State, Ratinho Junior (PSD), and would not have liked the leadership’s decision not to form a regional alliance in the elections in October and .
“This is a thoughtful decision, with responsibility, and with a clear objective: to maintain our support for Governor Ratinho Jr. and continue working for the municipalities of our State”said the deputy in a note.
