Travel agency publishes the five most chosen destinations by the Portuguese for the Easter holidays and this is the only one that is in Europe

The destinations most chosen by the Portuguese for their Easter holidays are confirming a clear trend: the dominance of sun and beach trips, with the Solférias top 5 concentrating the majority of preferences and highlighting just one European destination among mostly intercontinental options. This list has become a relevant indicator of tourist behavior at this time of year.

According to the news agency, the tour operator points to “Cape Verde, Disneyland Paris, Brazil, Senegal and Tunisia” as its main choices, a group that highlights the predominance of destinations outside Europe, with just one exception.

According to the same source, four of the five most popular destinations are in regions associated with high temperatures and beach tourism, reinforcing the preference for relaxing environments and favorable climates. This pattern confirms a consistent trend among the Portuguese, who continue to favor places where it is possible to guarantee stable weather conditions during the Easter period.

The only European stop

The agency writes that Disneyland Paris appears as the only European option in the top 5, standing out for the nature of the experience offered, centered on entertainment and not the traditional beach model. According to the same source, this choice shows that, despite the strong presence of long-haul destinations, there are still alternatives within Europe that manage to catch the attention of travelers.

Other travel agencies confirm this pattern, also identifying Cape Verde and the Caribbean as particularly popular destinations at this time. Pedro Quintela, from Agência Abreu, stated that “during this period, sun and beach destinations stand out, with the Caribbean and Cape Verde at the top of Portuguese preferences”.

Other trends in choices

In addition to the top 5, there is a diversification in travel options, with some Portuguese opting for cultural circuits and alternative European destinations. These destinations include countries such as Italy, the United Kingdom, Iceland or regions of the Balkans, reflecting a search for experiences different from traditional beach holidays.

There is also a consistent demand for intercontinental travel, especially to destinations such as Japan, Australia, Brazil and Peru. According to the same source, this trend demonstrates the interest in organized programs and more complete experiences during longer break periods.

Portugal maintains relevance

According to the same source, national destinations continue to be important, with emphasis on the Azores and Madeira, as well as circuits on the continent. These options appear as an alternative for those who prefer proximity and shorter travel time, whilst still maintaining a diversity of experiences.

According to Lusa, global demand for travel this Easter remains stable compared to the previous year, despite a context of higher prices. The same source says that, even with some caution, the Portuguese continue to travel, balancing choices between traditional destinations and new experiences.
