Iran sent a new peace proposal to the US through Pakistan. After the frozen negotiations, Tehran wants to break the stalemate and end the war in the Middle East.
Through mediators from Pakistan, Iran presented a new proposal to the United States to end the war, the country’s state media reported on Friday. TASR writes about it according to Sky News and AFP.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday evening handed over the text of its latest proposal for negotiations to Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator in talks with the United States,” Iran’s IRNA news agency said without further details.
The talks froze
The war in the Middle East broke out on February 28 after the US-Israeli attacks on Iran. In response to these strikes, Tehran began attacking other countries in the region. The conflict was suspended on April 8 by an agreed ceasefire.
However, the delegations of both sides have completed only one round of negotiations on a more permanent peace so far. The talks appeared to be deadlocked as the United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports while Iran kept the Strait of Hormuz largely closed. At the same time, the agency emphasizes that the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Arakchi, spoke on the phone with his sector partners from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq and Azerbaijan on Friday. The leaders spoke about the Islamic Republic’s “latest initiatives to end the war,” the ministry said in a statement.
