The Minister of Labor, , stated this Thursday (May 14, 2026) that the administration of the former president (PL) suspended the policy of increasing the minimum wage. The policy had been created during the PT governments.

During the speech, the minister defended the reduction of working hours. He presented data on the impact of the minimum wage increase policy.

The minister called the previous administration “government of darkness” e “BolsoMaster”. The current minimum wage is R$1,621. According to the minister, without the resumption of the appreciation policy in 2023, the floor would be “between R$790 and R$810”.

He argued that the policy was responsible for increasing the purchasing power of the national floor over the years.

The minister also defended the proposal to reduce weekly working hours from 44 to 40 hours without a salary reduction. He criticized businesspeople opposed to the end of the 6×1 scale.
