Lula confirms promise to clear the INSS queue by September – 06/11/2026 – Brasília Hoje

President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) confirmed this Thursday (6) his promise to clear the queue by September. He spoke about the topic at a ceremony at Palácio do Planalto.

The PT member was speaking about the allocation of Union properties when he addressed the president of the INSS, Ana Cristina Silveira: “Congratulations to the new president of the INSS who promised me that by the month of September she will eliminate the famous queue of people waiting for benefits”, declared the PT member.

The queue ended the month of May with 2.2 million requests, of which 926 thousand were within the 45-day period for INSS evaluation. Another 500 thousand depended on additional information from the insured.

The delayed applications were 765 thousand — these are the ones that the government, in fact, considers the queue and intends to clear in four months. Lula could suffer political wear and tear during the campaign if the queue is not resolved.

In January, when the total queue reached 3.1 million policyholders, 1.9 million requests had been awaiting a response for more than 45 days. Since then, backlog has fallen to an average of 280 thousand per month.

Reducing the queue became a government priority at the beginning of this year, after the accumulated stock of orders renewed records month after month, even above the of the former president (PL), when it reached 2 million.
