Interrupted rail transport on two lines: Slovaks, get smarter!

Railway traffic is interrupted on Saturday afternoon on two sections of Slovak lines due to a derailment. From 5:05 p.m. traffic between Leopoldov and Hlohovac is stopped, from 4:00 p.m. traffic on the Brezno – Gašparovo line is interrupted. This was stated for TASR by the spokesman of the Slovakian Railway Company (ZSSK), Ján Baček.

  • Extremely high temperatures during the weekend can significantly affect the flow of train traffic.
  • Passengers should expect delays, follow information and follow recommended safety policies.

The restriction also occurred in the section between Bratislava main station and Bratislava-Rača. Slovak Railways spokeswoman Petra Lániková explained to TASR that due to the weather, the sixth track derailed. For safety reasons, trains only run on one track. Passengers must expect delays.

The railways have not yet informed about the estimated time of resumption of traffic. ZSSK warns passengers that the expected extremely high temperatures during the weekend may affect the flow of train traffic. In addition to the high temperatures themselves, travel times will also be affected by preventive safety measures on the railway infrastructure, which can cause train delays.

He advises passengers to follow current traffic information. He points out that when planning your trip and transfers, you should take into account possible delays and create an adequate time reserve, have enough fluids and drink plenty of water during the trip, and pay extra attention to protection against high temperatures when traveling with children, seniors or people with disabilities. He also appeals to respect the instructions of the train staff in case of any emergencies.
