Statement was given amid friction between former president Jair Bolsonaro’s son and stepmother Michelle
The president of the PL, defended on Friday (June 26, 2026) the name of the senator (PL) to represent the party in the dispute for the Presidency of the Republic in the October elections. The statement was made days after the congressman’s public meeting with his stepmother, Michelle Bolsonaro (PL), because of the party’s negotiations to close a platform with Ciro Gomes (PDT) in Ceará.
“Flávio was chosen by President Jair Messias Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro always makes the best choice”, declared the party leader during the launch of PL pre-candidacies in Goiás.
At the same event, Flávio declared that it was important for the group to be united. “Because often the paths we choose are different, but to reach the same destination, to achieve the same goal“, said the senator.
FRICTION WITH MICHELLE
On June 24, former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro published two videos on Instagram in which she said she was disrespected and mistreated on the phone by Flávio.
In the videos, Michelle described a call from Flávio after she criticized Ciro’s support. “He said it would be better for me to stay out of the party’s decisions. He said I had arrived yesterday and didn’t understand politics. Faced with this humiliation, I told him everything was fine. I understood that he didn’t want my support or that it was insignificant”, he stated.
The former first lady said that Jair Bolsonaro’s other children adopted positions similar to Flávio’s, which she considered premeditated. Michelle stated that she and Flávio have not spoken since the phone call.
