Lawyer Igor Rousseff, older brother of the former president (PT), died at the age of 79 on Saturday (June 27, 2026), in Belo Horizonte (MG). The cause of death was not disclosed by the family. Dilma and her allies mourned her death.
Igor was hospitalized in the capital of Minas Gerais. The former president published an old photo next to her brother and wrote: “My brother, may you continue your journey in peace and serenity”.
The councilor of Belo Horizonte (PT), Igor’s grandson, published a tribute in which he described his grandfather as “honest, simple and hardworking”. According to him, Igor always advised him not to enter politics.
“He never wanted to enter politics. He was terrified of it. He always told me ‘not to mess with it’, ‘you saw what they did to Dilminha’. Even so, when I put my foot down and told him 5 years ago that I was going to join, he changed his mind: he was going to help me day and night with it”wrote the councilor.

Igor was 11 months older than Dilma. He was the firstborn of 3 siblings – the youngest, Zana Lúcia Rousseff, died more than 30 years ago. He was an advisor at Belo Horizonte City Hall under Fernando Pimentel. He was retired and lived in Passa Tempo (MG).
