Tom Homan will be newly responsible for overseeing the US borders with Mexico and Canada
Donald Trump (Republican Party) announced on Sunday (Nov 10, 2024) that he will nominate Tom Homan to oversee the country’s borders. Homan was, temporarily, director of Immigration and Inspection from 2017 to 2018, during the first Republican government.
At the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known by the acronym ICE, Tom Homan must oversee the US borders with Mexico and Canada. Trump said that “all deportations of illegal aliens back to their home country” will be Homan’s responsibilities.
“I am pleased to announce that former ICE director and border enforcement stalwart Tom Homan will join the Trump administration as head of our nation’s borders (‘the border czar’), including the southern and northern borders. and all Maritime and Air Security”, said the Republican on the social network Truth Social.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time and there’s no one better to monitor and control our borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be responsible for all deportations of illegal aliens back to their home country. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic and long overdue job,” Trump stated.
During the presidential race, Trump had promised that the largest deportation operation of illegal immigrants in US history would take place from the first day of his new government.
In a recent interview with the program “60 Minutes”, from the network CBSHoman advocated massive deportation. “I hear many people say that talking about mass deportation is racist, that it is a threat to the immigrant community. It is not a threat to the immigrant community. It should be a threat to the illegal immigrant community. But in the midst of a historic illegal immigration crisis, it must be done”, he stated.
