The presenter Natália Guimarães39, elected Miss Brazil and second runner-up in Miss Universe in 2007, stated, in an exclusive interview with CNNwho believes that the new rules expand the celebration of women and can help the competition choose increasingly stronger candidates.
As of this year’s edition, Miss Universe and all its franchises around the world and They also began to accept mothers, married and trans women as candidates. This is the case of , the first mother elected Miss Brazil, who will represent the country in the contest that will take place on Saturday (16), in Mexico City.
“Luana, our own Miss Brazil this year, is proof of this: married, with children, that wonderful, stunning body, and she is stunning. If that hadn’t happened, perhaps she wouldn’t have had the opportunity to represent us. Just like her, there are several women of different ages and in different ways who could and from now on will be able to represent us”, said the journalist.
“This gigantic variety opens up a range for us, because more and more we will be able to select the one that best represents us. All women must have the right to participate because Miss Universe is nothing more than the celebration of women’s beauty. And beauty is not just a physique.”
In conversation with CNNNatália Guimarães stated that, in her time, the main obstacle was immaturity, as girls arrived at the world of misses at a very young age. Now, with age restrictions removed, the Minas Gerais believer believes that the candidates will be able to arrive safer and better prepared.
“Miss Universe has always caught my attention, I watched it every year from an early age. When I was there, sometimes it felt like the plug didn’t fit right. Until the end, it seemed like that child was seeing me from the outside, from another angle, and didn’t really fit in there”, he confessed.
“The main challenge was getting to Miss Universe at such a young age, in a place that is a showcase of your body too, but mainly of who you are, how you will position yourself, the answers you will give to the questions that are raised. ”
Miss Brazil broke the ice
Natália also said that she really idealized the role of Miss and only realized that she could be one of them when she arrived at Miss Brazil and discovered that, like her, the other candidates were not perfect. What happens, in fact, is an intense preparation for the moment of the contest, which ends up showing only a specific section of who that woman is, and not the entire portrait.
“I discovered that those women I saw when I was little are not perfect. And even after they pass Miss Universe, they don’t stay in that shape there. That’s the pinnacle, because it’s a lot of training, a lot of studying. I started to see that the women who passed by him were normal women, like me. I wasn’t from another planet,” he said.
“I learned to see myself and show my best. Sometimes they already had these perfect features, these doll faces, but they still didn’t see it. I saw that attitude really makes a difference. Confidence makes all the difference”, he concluded.
