The city of Valencia, capital of the Valencian Community, was once again filled with protesters, a month after the violent floods that left at least 230 people dead in Spain.
Protesters accuse the President of the autonomous region, Carlos Mazón, of having done nothing when the severity of the floods that also affected provinces in Castile: Mancha and Andalusia were already known.
Mazón rejects leaving the leadership of the Valencian Community and accuses the central government of Pedro Sánchez of not having alerted the regional authorities to the increase in river flows, which, according to the President, is Madrid’s responsibility.
This Saturday’s gathering is not the first of the demonstrations to demand Mazón’s resignation. There were concentrations in the most affected locations, such as Alfafer and Paiporta (Province of Valencia) and the capital of the autonomous region itself was the scene of other demonstrations, which ended with clashes between police and protesters.
