A freight train from the company MRS Logística derailed near Brás Stationin the east zone of São Paulo, in the early hours of this Wednesday (18). The accident caused partial closures on sections between Tatuapé, Brás and Luz stations on lines 11-Coral and 12-Safira of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM).
According to CPTM, the logistics company’s train derailed at around 2:10 am on track 3, also hitting tracks 1 and 2.
On line 12-Safira, two trains run between Brás and Tatuapé stations, and on line 11-Coral, two trains run between Luz and Brás stations. Also according to the dealership, Expresso Aeroporto, which takes passengers from Barra Funda to Guarulhos Airport, is temporarily suspended.
Due to what happened, CPTM requested 57 buses from the Paese System between Brás and Tatuapé stations, in addition to the release of integrations with the Metro at Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera stations to serve passengers on the stretch.
The company’s technicians work together with MRS Logística to remove the freight wagons from the tracks, in order to assess whether there was any damage.
The CPTM also informed that “there is no expectation of normalization or reports of injuries” and that “the causes of the accident will be investigated by the CPTM and MRS.”
A CNN contacted MRS Logística, but had not yet received a response until the last update of this report.
