Stargate, the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure (AI) project announced this week by US President Donald Trump, will serve exclusively to OpenAi, creator of ChatgPT, according to the newspaper Financial Times.

The initiative plans to spend US $ 100 billion on Big Tech infrastructure projects, with the amount could increase to up to $ 500 billion ($ 2.9 trillion) over the next four years, said OpenAi and Softbank, the two main supporters of Stargate, on Tuesday (24). Oracle and the state of Abu Dhabi, MGX, are also founding partners.

Trump greeted the project at an event at the White House that was attended by OpenAi chief Sam Altman, describing it as “a relent of trust in America’s potential under a new president.”

But despite the announcement, Stargate has not yet guaranteed the necessary financing, will not receive government funding and will only serve OpenAi, said the Financial Times. “The goal is not to become a data center provider for the world, it is for OpenAi,” said one of the newspaper sources.

Softbank and OpenAI intend to invest more than $ 15 billion (R $ 88 billion) each in the project, according to the FT. Companies expect to raise a capital combination of their current investors and debt, which will be used to finance Stargate. Tokyo -based softbank will also inject existing funds on Stargate.
