‘The State of São Paulo has never received treatment like this from this government’

The Minister of Finance, , said this Thursday (9) that the federal government will not change its treatment with the State, despite the news that the State governor, (Republicans), had worked to overturn the Provisional Measure alternative to the Tax on Financial Operations () in Congress. “So, even with the news that the state governor acted, in my opinion, to the detriment of national interests, to protect Faria Lima, we will not harm the State of São Paulo”, he declared, upon arriving at the ministry’s headquarters.

Haddad also stated that he will follow the instructions of the President of the Republic, not to discriminate against governors and mayors based on partisan color. “The State of São Paulo has never received treatment like this from this government. President Lula’s guidance has always been to never discriminate against a governor based on his party flag”, said the Finance Minister.

Haddad also repeated that the interests in overthrowing the MP who frustrates the government’s revenue for next year by around R$20 billion are linked to the opposition and the 2026 election. “The same forces that opened the coffers in 2022 to try to guarantee the re-election of Jair Bolsonaro, are the same ones that are disorganizing the Budget in 2026 to obtain an electoral result. They are the same forces”, accused the minister.
