The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) gave this Friday (10) a 24-hour deadline for the defense of the former advisor to the Presidency to present the final arguments in the .
If the defense does not file the document by early Saturday afternoon (11), the defense will be removed from the case, with the (Federal Public Defender’s Office) summoned to advocate for Martins.
The imbroglio arose on Thursday (9). Moraes said that the defenses of Martins and Marcelo Câmara had not presented the final arguments in the process regarding the attempted coup d’état as .
Lawyer Jeffrey Chiquini, Filipe Martins’ defender, said that Moraes’ action was arbitrary and illegal. The former advisor sent a handwritten request to protest the lawyer’s departure.
“The dismissal, carried out without my hearing and without prior opposition, is abusive and directly violates my inalienable rights, in particular the right to freely choose the defender of my trust, an elementary guarantee in a democratic regime”, states the former advisor.
The lawyers had asked for more time for the allegations, justifying that the Attorney General’s Office added new elements to the accusation. Moraes understood that it was a delaying maneuver and ordered the dismissal.
