Jozef Síkela stated in a forum that the bloc is interested in going beyond extraction, also investing in local processing, refinement and technology transfer
The European Union’s Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, spoke this Tuesday, 23rd, explicitly about the European bloc’s interest in “contributing” to the development of the mining sector in Brazil beyond the extraction of inputs. The statement was made during participation in the II EU-Brazil Investment Forum: EU-Mercosur Partnership Agreement.
“We are ready to support this ambition of truly building a value chain. Unlike other actors, we do not only invest in mineral extraction. We also invest in local processing, refining. We share technology and staff training”, declared Síkela.
