In Barcelona, Spain, tourist traps are mainly concentrated around iconic places where high prices are associated with mass attendance. The most famous examples are the boulevard La Rambla and the immediate vicinity of the market La Boqueria, where restaurants often tempt with colorful dishes, but offer average quality for exorbitant amounts.
A similar situation prevails near Sagrada Familia or Park Güell, where it is in high season usual overcrowding, long queues and more aggressive street vendors.
Many businesses in these zones rely on a quick exchange of customers and less on guest satisfaction, which is also reflected in a uniform offer “typical” tapas or paella, which, however, have little to do with authentic Catalan cuisine. Tourists also often encounter small tricks – for example, unclearly marked surcharges, overpriced drinks or “photographers” offering pictures at major attractions.
Slovak influencer and entrepreneur Jovinečko fell into a similar trap with his friends who went on a trip to Barcelona. The trio drank three sangrias (an alcoholic drink made from red wine, chopped fruit, sweetener and sometimes other alcohol such as brandy) at the establishment. but when the bill came, they were quite surprised. They asked for 100 euros in the restaurant for three drinks.
“So we were shocked (cheating) right now. Ladies and gentlemen, listen up. Basically, we had sangria, these three, which is about a liter, and it cost us 100 euros. Sangris are between 5 and 12 euros normally in Barcelona and here three cost 100 euros. Joviečko revealed on Instagram and showed his friends arguing with the waiter. With this, he wants to warn fans that price increases still exist and they should carefully choose the business they visit. You can find the VIDEO at the beginning of the article.
