The (Supreme Federal Court) will hold, this Monday (Feb 2, 2026), starting at 2pm, the solemn opening session of the 2026 Judicial Year. The ceremony will be attended by the president (PT).
The event, which marks the resumption of the Court’s regular activities, will also feature the presidents of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), and the Chamber of Deputies, (Republicans-PB). The ceremony will open with the playing of the National Anthem, followed by a speech by the president of the STF, the minister.

By tradition, the STF president’s speech takes stock of the previous year’s activities and highlights messages about management. The plenary trials will resume on Wednesday (4.Feb.). The agenda of the 1st session is the judgment on the possibility of condemning the (Public Prosecutor’s Office) to pay the procedural expenses and legal fees of the other party when it loses a lawsuit.
The specific case is the ARE (Extraordinary Appeal with Appeal), which has general repercussions – that is, what the STF decides will apply to similar cases throughout the country.
Also on the agenda are ADIs (Direct Actions of Unconstitutionality) and , which question resolutions from the (National Council of Justice) that impose limits on the use of social networks by judges.
