Finland excludes coach for alcohol consumption – 02/12/2026 – Sport

The head coach of the Finnish ski jumping team, Igor Medved, has been excluded from the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics for violating the rules on “alcohol consumption” at the event, the Finnish Olympic Committee announced this Thursday (12).

“We don’t have zero tolerance for alcohol. What we have is zero tolerance on the trampoline tower and during training; outside of that, we don’t have zero tolerance,” the head of the Nordic country’s Olympic delegation, Janne Hanninen, told AFP.

The incident involving Medved did not happen “as part of training”, he added.

In a statement published by the Finnish Olympic Committee, Igor Medved said he was “very sorry”.

“I apologize to the entire Finnish team, the athletes and the fans,” he said.

His assistant, Lasse Moilanen, will take over the technical coordination of the Finnish ski jumping team in Milan-Cortina.
