One explosion of a gas tanker this Thursday (19) killed at least four people and injured 10 in Santiago, authorities said.

Around 8:00 am, local time (same time in Brasília), the driver lost control of the vehicle near the peripheral town of Renca and crashed into a containment barrier.

“We have four dead and 10 injured, some in serious condition,” presidential delegate Gonzalo Durán told reporters, adding that the cause of the accident was being investigated.

The explosion generated a large column of smokevisible from various points in the capital. Police General Víctor Vielma indicated that the explosion also damaged “some vehicles inside an adjacent building and affected a dome in the area.”
