Terrible tragedy: Slovakian skier († 21) died in an avalanche in Austria

A 21-year-old Slovak skier died on Saturday in an avalanche in Styria, Austria. It happened in the area of ​​Hoher Zinken, where he was together with five other Slovaks. According to the police, they were not injured, reports TASR based on a report by the APA news agency.

The police said in the announcement that a group of skiers left the secured track around 1:40 p.m. When driving from an altitude of 1900 meters, an avalanche was released, which she completely buried one of the men. He was located by an avalanche dog of the mountain rescue service, which, however, could no longer help the man.

Around 120 members of the rescue services along with two helicopters intervened on the spot. The exact cause of the avalanche is under investigation by the Alpine Police. Not one of the six skiers from the group had avalanche equipment, according to the police report.
