Operation in RJ targets relationship between public agents and factions

Federal Police have launched 3 phases since Monday (9th March); warrants were determined by the Federal Supreme Court

A (Federal Police) launched this Wednesday (March 11, 2026) the which investigates the connection between violent criminal groups and military police in Rio de Janeiro. The action was authorized by the (Supremo Tribunal Federal).

The agents serve 7 preventive arrest warrants and 7 search and seizure warrants in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Nova Iguaçu (RJ) and Nilópolis (RJ). The STF also ordered the removal from public functions of all those investigated and the breaking of the confidentiality of data on the electronic equipment seized in the operation.

Investigations indicate that military police officers used the prerogative of the public function they exercise to benefit organized crime in the State. The role of these agents would be to facilitate logistics for drug trafficking and militias, shield members of criminal groups and hide the economic benefits obtained.

Those investigated may face charges of criminal organization, money laundering, and active and passive corruption. Compliance with court orders this Wednesday has the support of the Rio de Janeiro Military Police Internal Affairs Department.

This is the 3rd day in a row of Federal Police operations. The agents on Monday (9th March) 4 preventive arrest warrants for public agents investigated for links to organized crime. On Tuesday (10th March), another 4 arrest warrants not state.

The 3 phases of the operation were conducted by the Mission Redentor 2 Task Force, which consolidates the STF guidelines in compliance with the ADPF ruling (Argument of Non-Compliance with Fundamental Precepts) . A seeks to contain violations in police actions and curb abuses against the human rights of residents of communities in Rio de Janeiro.
