President stated that the decision is valid as long as the United States continues to block the visas of the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha (PT), his wife and the couple’s daughter
The president (PT) stated this Friday (March 13, 2026) that he banned the entry of Darren Beattie, advisor to the government of the President of the United States, (Republican Party), in Brazil. According to him, the ban is valid as long as the United States continues to be the Minister of Health, (PT)his wife and the couple’s daughter.
“That American guy who said he was coming here to visit Jair Bolsonaro, he was banned from visiting. And I banned him from going to Brazil until I release my Minister of Health’s visas, which are blocked”he stated. The statement was made during an event at Andaraí Federal Hospitalin Rio de Janeiro.

The MRE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) revoked Beattie’s visa this Friday, who planned to come to Brazil and visit the former president (PL) in Papudinha, in Brasília, where he is serving his sentence. Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the STF (Supreme Federal Court), will visit on Tuesday (10th March), but after his decision.
The visa was granted based on a request sent on March 6 by the United States Department of State to the Consulate General of Brazil in Washington.
The revocation was determined because, in the Brazilian government’s view, there was omission and falsification of relevant information about the reason for the trip. Therefore, the principle of reciprocity was applied to cancel the visa. Legislation allows the visa to be denied or canceled when the applicant presents incomplete or incorrect information.
Itamaraty informed Moraes that Darren Beattie’s visa was granted to participate in the Brazil-US Critical Minerals Forum. The event will be held on March 18th in São Paulo.
The visit to Bolsonaro was not part of the objectives stated by the United States government.
Beattie also sought a meeting with representatives from the Foreign Ministry. The survey was carried out by the US embassy in Brasília on Wednesday (11 March). There was no formal request for an agenda from the ministry, just exchanges of messages via email and WhatsApp.
The decision was taken at a time of greater diplomatic tension between Brazil and the United States. Brazilian authorities also discuss recent security cooperation proposals presented by Washington.
Among the topics under debate is the expansion of cooperation in the fight against international organized crime. The matter involves organizations such as the PCC (First Capital Command), about CV (Red Command) and transnational networks investigated by American authorities.
The Trump government wants to classify these groups as terrorists, which worries the Brazilian government for violating the country’s own legislation and setting a precedent for interventions in Brazilian territory.
