The mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, criticized the former Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddadand the Minister of Planning, Simone Tebetduring an evangelical community event held on Saturday (21). For the current mayor, Haddad was the “worst mayor ever in the history of this city” and one of “worst ministers in Brazil”. Nunes justified his speech by citing the record in interest payments on public debtwhich reached R$ 1 trillion, and the alleged flight of companies from the country under current economic management. According to him, Haddad’s “merits” would all be on the negative side.

Criticism was also directed at Simone Tebet, who, in order to attempt a vacancy in the Senate for São Paulo in 2026. Nunes stated that the minister was a “very big politician” who “diminished” herself to be a “Lula’s puppet”. He suggested that Tebet opted for São Paulo for not having electoral viability in Mato Grossoits original political base.

When projecting the future of the right-wing political group, the mayor emphasized that the unity will be essential to defeat the current federal government. Nunes cited names such as Flávio Bolsonaro, Ronaldo Caiado, Ratinho Júnior and Romeu Zema, arguing that everyone must be together in a possible second round to “rescue Brazil”. The statements were accompanied by governor Tarcísio de Freitas, with whom Nunes shared the agenda at the event.
