In the municipal elections in France we are seeing a familiar scene: all parties claim some type of victory, although with nuances. The socialists retain power in the most symbolic cities; the extreme right stops there, but continues to advance in medium-sized municipalities; and the left once again debates whether unity adds or subtracts.

The most compelling figure is, however, the alarming abstention, which exceeds 40%. Ana Fuentes analyzes together with Raquel Villaécija, from Paris, the keys and readings left by these elections.
