On Saturday, March 21, the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava became the venue for the prestigious Crystal Wing award ceremony for the year 2025. Here, they honored exceptional personalities from the economic, scientific, cultural or sports spheres, who left an indelible mark on society with their achievements or long-term work. Laureates in individual categories were decided by expert juries together with the Grand Jury.
Laureate of the Crystal Wing Štefan Rosina during the gala evening, he presented the award in the popular music category, where Dara Rolins, Sara Rikas and Simona Hegerová, known under the stage name SIMA, competed for the victory. Even before the announcement, the legendary Marika Gombitová was mentioned.
Rosina described a personal memory of her concert in Púchov. “My biggest impression from that concert is that she had such a transparent dress and only beautiful black underwear underneath. I still remember that.” he admitted openly, which amused some of the audience. However, the enthusiasm was not shared by the nominated SIMA, whose facial expression spoke volumes. She did not keep her indignation to herself and later published a stinging statement on the social network in which she did not put a napkin in front of her mouth. “There were so many thoughts going through my head at this point. I was like, ‘Uncle, REALLY?!’ What stood out to you in Gombit’s career was that she was wearing a see-through dress and did you see her underwear? You could talk, you had a chance to say anything, e.g. acknowledge the influence of Gombitová in Slovakia instead of a derogatory remark,” she noted.
According to her, instead of inappropriate jokes, he should have highlighted the strength of female representation in the popular music category. “You could have highlighted the fact that in the category we met three successful, goal-oriented and smart WOMEN who achieved great things in what they do. Instead of saying how great it is that we are have dominated pop in Slovakia, what an undeniable position we women have on this scene, tell some shallow jokes about underwear,” continued the artist.
She did not forget to express her support to her colleagues. “Sara Rikas and Dara Rollins. You’re both great, I love you, I’m proud of you, we’re rolling the scene,” she told them. Sima ended the post with a clear message for all those who focus only on superficial matters instead of real art.
“This gentleman and others like him may be remembered for underwear, but the generations of people helped by the MUSIC we make will take away SOMETHING MORE SUBSTANTIAL from our lives and our influence.” added.
