Starters in the 2-1 defeat to France at Gillette Stadium, in Boston, striker Raphinha and right-back Wesley had muscle injuries found in imaging tests and will not be available for the duel against Croatia, on the 31st.
“Both felt pain in the posterior region of the right thigh during the match against France. This Friday, the athletes underwent imaging tests that confirmed muscle injuries,” the CBF said in a statement.
“The players are free to continue treatment. No other athletes will be called to replace them”, added the entity.
Raphinha felt discomfort in his right thigh at the end of the first half, giving way at half-time to Luiz Henrique, once again a positive highlight in the Brazilian attack. Wesley felt the same way and left the field in the middle of the second half, replaced by Ibañez.
The group called up for the current FIFA date had already suffered from the losses in the defensive sector of Alisson, Gabriel Magalhães and Alex Sandro, also due to injury.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team returns to the field next Tuesday, in a duel at the Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, Florida, starting at 9 pm (Brasília time).
The repeat of the duel for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, when Tite’s team was eliminated by the Croatians on penalties, is the last match before the final squad list for the World Cup, which should be released on May 18th.
