Paintings by Matisse, Cézanne and Renoir stolen from foundation in Italy

Paintings by Matisse, Cézanne and Renoir were stolen from the collection of the Magnani Rocca Foundation, in the city of Mamiano di Traversetolo, in Italy.

The robbery took place in the early hours of the 22nd to the 23rd, but it was only reported today in the Italian press.

The stolen works were “The Fishes”, by Renoir, “Odalisque on a Terrace”, by Matisse, and “Still Life with Cherries”, by Cézanne.

According to authorities, the foundation’s surveillance cameras identified several hooded individuals.

Renoir’s painting, oil on canvas, valued at several million euros, is one of the few works by the artist that are part of a permanent collection in Italy.

A de Goya, Ticiano, Dürer, De Chirico, Rubens, Van Dyck, Filippo Lippi, Carpaccio, Burri, De Pisis, Tiepolo, Canova, among others.
