The airline will reinforce connections from Faro airport, operating 18 routes to France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Among these, a new connection to Newcastle, in the northeast of England, stands out, the carrier announced today.

In a statement, easyJet indicates that the offer of flights from Gago Coutinho international airport, in Faro, will increase by 3% compared to the summer of last year, reinforcing the connection of the Algarve tourist destination to some of its main source markets.

“For this summer, easyJet presents a 3% growth in its capacity in Faro compared to the previous summer, making a total of 1.7 million seats available. The seasonal operation will feature 18 routes, connecting the south of Portugal to key destinations in France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Switzerland”, highlighted the company.

Company expands operation in Faro for the summer

The company points out as “big news” for the summer of 2026 “the inauguration of the route between Faro and Newcastle, in the United Kingdom”, whose operation began last Sunday.

“This new connection reinforces the region’s connectivity during the high season and expands options for the British market, one of the main sources of tourists to the Algarve”, explained the company.

Those responsible for the company believe that the investment made in Faro shows the importance that the Algarve has for the company.

“We are very excited to start another summer season in the Algarve, especially in a year in which we celebrate the fifth anniversary of our base in Faro. Since its inauguration in 2021, this base has been a fundamental pillar of our investment in Portugal, contributing decisively to the development of tourism and the local economy”, said José Lopes, general director of easyJet, quoted in the company’s statement.

With the increase in capacity and the creation of the new connection to the northeast of England, customers now have “more and better connections” and can “enjoy everything the Algarve has to offer” in the high tourist season, he added.

easyJet began operating in Faro in 1999

easyJet recalled that it began its operation in Faro in 1999 and, since then, “it has transported more than 26 million passengers, consolidating its position as one of the main airlines in the region”.

Lyon, Paris Orly, Bordeaux, Nantes (in France), Amsterdam (Netherlands), London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Belfast, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Southend, Southampton and Newcastle (United Kingdom) and Geneva and Basel (Switzerland) are the 18 routes that EasyJet will operate from Faro, the company said.

In Portugal, the carrier will make available this summer a “capacity of seven million seats”, spread over “93 routes”, destined for 14 countries.

easyJet highlighted that, in addition to Faro-Newcastle, four more new connections will also be available: Lisbon-Newcastle, Lisbon-Liverpool, Porto-São Vicente, Funchal-Nice.
