Avante launches writer Augusto Cury as a pre-candidate for President

Party made pre-candidacy official this Sunday (April 5), with a proposal focused on education and humanized management

Psychiatrist and author of self-help books Augusto Cury launched himself as a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic for Avante. The officialization took place this Sunday (April 5, 2026). The party presents its candidacy with a focus on education, humanized management and emotional balance.

“My goal is to contribute to the construction of the Brazil of our dreams. I don’t love power, I don’t need power and I don’t seek power for power’s sake. This is not a personal project, but a journey”, he wrote in a post on his Instagram profile.

The writer had already positioned himself as a . In March, he published a video in which he declared that he had no personal interest in the dispute.

“I see no pleasure in power. I have always stated, as a psychiatrist and builder of knowledge about the human mind, that power and fame, when poorly handled, can infect emotional health, increasing vanity, radicalism and the anxious need to preserve one’s own power”these.

In addition to Cury, other pre-candidates are: (PSD), (PT), Renan Santos (Mission), (Christian Democracy), (PL), (New) and (National Mobilization).

Pre-candidates need approval at party conventions before registering with the Superior Electoral Court. Candidacies will be registered with the TSE in August, when the campaign period officially begins.
