After 20 years, Cmorik talked about the backstage of SuperStar! THIS is what two people close to him told him, it changed everything

On March 22, the Bratislava STARS auditorium belonged to the singer and composer Petr Cmorik. He celebrated his life and work jubilee with a concert entitled 20 years on stage. That evening he celebrated his 46th birthday and 20 years on the music scene. He invited famous guests to the concert, which they were Zuzana Smatanová, Daniela Lovlin, Kuly, Peter Bič, Ondřej Brzobohatý and Mucha Quartet.

The singer has compiled a playlist from the albums he has released over a whopping 20 years. Zuzana Smatanová sang the song “What’s coming will come” and together with it the song “When You’re Gone”. Cmorik’s wife, violinist Daniela Lovlin, joined her on stage in the compositions Kolonáda and Pripíjam. The guest from Prague Ondřej Brzobohatý sang together with the celebrant the song Wind a Kříž svoj neseme. Together with Peter Bič, they offered the song Spolu stastarnút and added the hit Perly. Kuly and Cmorik sang the song Nezlomní and Kuly himself as well as the Desmodov hit Vyrobená pre mena.

Cmorik invited a lot of friends, how did this idea come about? “It was actually the 20th anniversary of how I started this dizzying career and so we thought that it should be celebrated and celebrated somehow spectacularly. So we thought that we were going to do a concert. We made it a little special. Of course, during those 20 years, many collaborations, many duets, many friendships between musicians were created.” zoomed in for Koktejl.sk with musician Teri Čikoš.

He has a duet with every guest, except for Petr Bič, but he helped write, arrange, and produce together with Starna Pesnička, and is even in weekly contact with him. “I punched a few people, because even that time is not inflatable and I don’t think we can fit in two hours anyway. And I invited some important people with whom we helped each other and with whom we met at festivals and we are also friends in person who came. Everyone is here and we will play beautifully in the evening, because it sounds and looks really nice. So I gave myself one concert like this for my birthday,” said Cmorik.

The career of the well-known Slovak was fully launched by the singing competition Superstar, which he won on April 7, 2006. His career as a singer and musician has actually lasted for twenty years. “It was something incredible, of course. It was a competition first of all, so you had to prove something and be judged and all those things that are not completely natural in music, but the format helped me get into the media and that that name started to have some meaning and some value and it opened a lot of doors and collaborations and … it was difficult,” he said bluntly.

He admits that he is not the competitive type at all. Fortunately, it ended well. “I remember two people who stayed in my head. When I was already in the final and it was already the fourth or fifth round, that we were already in the middle of those rounds to the end, then Jožko Šebo, who was then my manager for several years, said: “Petrík, since you’ve come this far, at least win it, let’s get something out of it.” That was one and the other was – my father in Žiar nad Hronom,” the singer surprised.

“I kept inviting him to a round, saying come now and he said: “Not yet.” And I said: “Okay,” so the next week I invited him: “No, I’ll come to the finals.” And I said: “Well, what if I don’t make it to the finals?” And he said: “Why am I going to a singer who doesn’t make it to the finals?” But he was such a joker, he had such a sense of humor. And the final came, he came,” Cmorik added.

After winning SuperStar, Cmorik released his debut album Nádherný děn in 2006, in October 2007 he added the second Žijem kako viem and in November 2009 the third one called Jedno si želám. His popularity is evidenced by the fact that he is a five-time Golden Slávik, he won first place four times in a row (2006 – 2009), finished second in 2010 and 2011, and won again in 2012. In March 2018, twins were born to him and his partner, whom they named Štefan and Peter.
