Pre-candidate for the government of São Paulo stated that defeat in the Senate was not a victory for the opposition
The pre-candidate for the government of São Paulo for the Workers’ Party, stated this Thursday (April 30, 2026) that it weakens the Presidency of the Republic and the fight against corruption in the country.
“It was a weakening of the institution of the Presidency of the Republic. This must be noted, and the weakening of the fight against crime in the country and corruption”these.
In an interview with the portal MetropolisesHaddad declared that the defeat in the Senate should not be treated as a victory for the opposition. According to him, the result represents an institutional loss for the government and the Federal Supreme Court.
Haddad also praised Messias and stated that he would be able to occupy the seat on the Court. According to the pre-candidate, the current head of Attorney General of the Union acted in support of investigations and measures adopted by the federal government.
“I have known the Messiah for many years and he is one of the most blameless public figures in this country. The guy, testing any criteria you may have, would be qualified for a position on the Supreme Court”these.
According to Haddad, Messiah played an important role in actions carried out by bodies such as Federal RevenueFinancial Activities Control Council and Federal Police in combating organized crime.
The minister also stated that the president (PT) usually emerges stronger from political defeats and minimized the direct impact on the government. Still, it was classified as “incomprehensible” the decision not to approve Messias for the STF.
