The city of is facing a worrying increase in the number of victims of running over and accidents involving motorcyclists. In the first months of 2025, specifically between January and February, the number rose 29% compared to the same period of the previous year, from 42 to 53 deaths. Of these, 23 were elderly people, which highlights the need for greater attention and care for this vulnerable age group. In addition, fatal accidents involving motorcyclists also recorded a significant increase. In February 2024, 28 deaths were accounted for, while in the same month of 2025, the number rose to 31, representing a 10%growth. However, the municipal administration recognizes the difficulties in reducing accident rates. The mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, stressed that the increase in motorcycle accidents reinforces the need to reassess motorcycle transportation by motorcycles, a theme that has generated clashes with companies such as Uber and 99. The data reveal that the problem is not restricted to the state capital, but extends throughout the state. Between January and December 2024, 482 motorcycle deaths were recorded, the largest number of the last 10 years.
