The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFA) of the Slovak Republic strongly warns against traveling to Iran. If Slovaks are in this Muslim country, they are advised to leave it immediately. The department published the recommendation on its website on Friday.
- The ministry warns against traveling to Iran and recommends Slovaks to leave.
- Citizens should follow current events and avoid mass gatherings.
- It is not recommended to photograph security forces, government and military buildings.
- The situation in Iran is very tense after the war conflict and protests.
- The Slovak government promotes diplomatic solutions, not military intervention in Iran.
“As part of a possible stay in Iran, despite the travel recommendation, we recommend citizens of Slovakia to follow the news, current events and social media and to avoid places where mass gatherings and protests can take place, especially at night,” adds the ministry. It warns against photographing members of the security forces, government, military buildings and other sensitive objects. “In the event of any security escalation, we recommend retreating to safety immediately, not taking unnecessary risks and waiting for the situation in the accommodation facility to calm down,” MZVEZ advises.
The Ministry reminds that the situation in Iran is very sensitive after the war conflict in June 2025 and this January’s escalation caused by the protests of the domestic population, problematic. The tension is also increasing with the steps taken by the United States. The White House said on Wednesday (18/02) that Iran would be “wise” to strike a deal with the United States, as US President Donald Trump again hinted at potential military intervention in the country. According to foreign media, it could happen already during the weekend. In the case of Iran, the Slovak government prefers a diplomatic solution to a military one.
