Incredibly creamy cauliflower casserole. A simple hit from the oven, everyone will like it

Cauliflower It is not everyone’s favorite vegetable, but in the right setting it becomes truly unique. It doesn’t take much to prepare a delicious meal for the whole family – this recipe is proof of that.

  • 1 large cauliflower,
  • 3 tablespoons of butter,
  • 3 tablespoons of flour,
  • 300 ml of cold milk,
  • 2 pinches of nutmeg,
  • 2 pinches of black pepper,
  • 1 pinch of salt,
  • 150 g of parmesan cheese 50 g for sprinkling the casserole,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil,
  • butter to grease the form,
  • a sprig of basil for decoration.

Divide the cauliflower into florets and cook them in salted water until al dente.

Melt the butter in a pot and add the flour. Stir intensively until you notice a pleasant smell of slightly burnt roux. Then add milk, nutmeg and pepper. Stir constantly until the sauce boils and thickens.

Remove the sauce from the heat. Add 150 g of Parmesan cheese and mix until the cheese is completely melted. Let everything cool to room temperature, then add and beat the egg.

Grease the casserole dish with butter. Place the cooked cauliflower evenly in it. Pour the previously prepared sauce over everything, and finally sprinkle with grated Parmesan and dried basil.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake the cauliflower casserole for about 20 minutes. Serve immediately after removing from the oven, decorated with basil leaves.
