Close to the Minister of Finance and pre-candidate for the PT, , and his wife, Ana Estela, assumed leadership of the minority in Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo).
Sahão should direct the opposition to criticize what he calls the “dismantling of essential public policies for the people of São Paulo” during his administration (Republicans).
The deputy highlights in her mandate attempts to stop the restructuring of researchers’ careers, cuts in funding and privatization of science sectors. At the end of 2025, Sahão went to the Public Ministry to demand from the governor a plan against the escalation of gender-based violence.
“This will be a crucial year for democracy. We need to be united against those who stand against development with equal rights, the denialists on duty and those who fail to defend women, children and adolescents, the LGBTQIA+ population, elderly people, people with disabilities and everyone who dreams of a fairer world with more opportunities”, says Beth.
She is in her sixth term at Alesp and has already held the leadership position of the Minority in 2015, in addition to having led the PT bench in the House in 2018.
